Gifts of Stocks

A gift of appreciated securities may be a fast and easy way of supporting Vacamas while deriving significant tax benefits. It is almost always a better tax strategy to transfer appreciated securities directly to Vacamas, rather than selling them and donating the proceeds of the sale.

Gifts of long-term appreciated securities provide two important income tax benefits: 1) No tax is imposed on the appreciated portion of the gift (capital gains) and 2) Donors will receive a charitable income tax deduction for the stock’s full fair market value, up to 30 percent of one's adjusted gross income, with any balance carried forward for up to five years.

BEQUESTS OR CHARITABLE TRUSTS: PLANNED GIVING

Planned giving is a very special tool of philanthropy. Whatever form your planned gift takes, please keep in mind that it is a wonderful way to support Vacamas for the future.

Bequests: A provision in your will for Vacamas will provide for our continued programs. These bequests are deeply valued and have helped Vacamas throughout its history.

Charitable Remainder Trusts: These planned giving vehicles allow you to transfer assets into a trust that will provide you or your beneficiaries with payments for life. Upon the death of the last surviving income beneficiary, remaining funds are transferred to Vacamas.
