Vacamas offers customized Environmental and Experiential Education Programs ranging in duration from a 4-hour day trip through a full residential week of outdoor learning experience. Our program is designed for 4th through 8th graders. From September through June, our rural facility Camp Vacamas can provide housing for up to 200 students and staff in self-contained buildings. The Vacamas Environmental and Experiential Education Program can be adapted to the needs of your individual school district. Our curriculum encompasses geology, botany, wildlife, astrology and all aspects of environmental science. Our low ropes course enhances communication and socialization skills and improves conflict mediation through our carefully-guided debrief sessions. Our high ropes course and climbing walls foster self-esteem and build self-confidence.
Nestled in the foothills of the Ramapo Mountains, Camp Vacamas is located on 230 acres of private woodland on a 50-acre lake in the Northern New Jersey Highlands Region and can provide hours or days of interactive learning. Surrounded by the Norvin Green State Forest, our private and secluded grounds offer exceptional scenery in the New Jersey Highlands while still being only 45 minutes from New York City.
