Vacamas Enrichment
FOUNDED in 1924 by a group of
dedicated business people, social workers and
teachers who saw the need to provide a camp
experience for the children of immigrant workers
from the Lower East Side.
PHILOSOPHY AND GOALS

offer quality, residential camping experiences
to low and moderate income families. All fees
are on a sliding scale according to need.

non-competitive philosophy geared toward
fostering the individuality of each child.

a diverse population on every level: economic,
gender, religion, race and culture.

help each camper realize his/her full potential
as a camper and person.

other campers from a wide variety of
backgrounds.

necessary to build self-reliance and
self-esteem.

acquaint each camper with the pleasures of
living and playing in a beautiful, natural
environment.
PROGRAMS:
-
Junior Camp - campers from age 7 -13 participate
in daily activities which include Red Cross
approved swim instruction, woodshop, arts &
crafts, photography, drama, computers, care and
feeding of domestic farm animals, ropes courses,
nature and creative kitchen, to name a few.

Teen
Camp - campers from age 14 - 16 are able to
choose from specialty and adventure programs
including, but not limited to, biking, canoeing,
theatre, lifeguard training, basic camping, rock
climbing, basketball skills and drills and
Leadership in Training (LIT).
